5Best decision I ever made!  Jun 04, 2009
By Mel "the Ravenous Reader"
I purchased a refurbished PS3 on EBay because I wanted the 60gB model that is no longer being produced. I'd never purchased an extended warranty before, but decided to do so because it was a refurb. I am SO glad I did!

Unfortunately, the product failed about 5 months after purchase - it stopped reading games. This was a personal tragedy for my 11 year old, who LOVES his PS3. I contacted Square Trade and received an immediate answer, suggesting I first try a firmware update at home. When that didn't work, I emailed back and received a reply that a postage prepaid box wss being shipped to my home. I shipped the defective unit to their repair center and received a repaired unit in a couple of weeks. I received emails from Square Trade when the item was received, repaired, and shipped back, and I could check the status on their web site at any time as well.

The process could not have been any easier or more efficient. It was a huge relief for me to know that my expensive purchase was not going to become a doorstop (or incur huge repair costs elsewhere.) I would HIGHLY recommend this company for warranty service, especially if you are purchasing a refubished item. It's so rare to find really good customer service these days - I can't say enough about how pleased I am!

5square trade the way to go!  May 06, 2009
By M. Nickelson
I can't say enough about square trade warranties, but can tell you it's great that you can buy them direct on amazon.com now instead of having to go to thier website after your purchase. A couple of years ago I bought a warranty from square trade on an ebay item I purchased and 5 months later It broke. I called square trade and they told me to send it back, they paid postage, and quickly sent me a check for the full amount I paid. No questions asked. And no hassles. Folks you realy can't beat them when it comes to service. This last Christmas I bought a new 46" flat panel tv, hidef dvd recorder, and cordless phones. And I bought the warranties from square trade without batting an eye. Three year warranties where a third of what my friends paid for thiers at best buy, circuit city, ultimate, and Amercas... Amazon.co and square trade, best of both worlds!

3Worked ... but beware if for Xbox 360 Purchase  Dec 06, 2011
By Fred W. Walz
I bought this warranty for my Xbox360 and Square Trade covered all the warranty costs, but they should have wrote how this warranty works.

When you buy a warranty on your Xbox360 from Square Trade, you are not getting a warranty from Square Trade. When you get your claim they will inform you that your product is being reviewed and a technician is looking at it, but Square Trade does not do the repair it themselves, they give it to a 3rd party. Specifically, the 3rd party is [...], a company that fixes all gaming systems.

My Xbox360 had the open tray/disc read error, I wrote to Square Trade telling them about my problem, they approved the claim and I sent in my Xbox360 to psr1 and they said they fixed it but they did not as it still had the open tray/no disc read error. Called up square trade who said there was a 90 day warranty on my fix from psr1 and this is where the service was really bad.

Square Trade never updated my claim and I had to call two more times, I finally got a representative who knew what he was talking about and corrected my problem, the original representative said I had a disk stuck in my drive? really?

The representative then filed my claim with psr1 who sent me out a box to ship it in, they sent it back within a week and my Xbox360 finally was fixed.

I looked at the invoices, for my $35 warranty, I believe Square Trade paid about $250 in costs, but $100 of these were psr1's fault because they incorrectly diagnosed my problem.

For covering costs I gave Square Trade a 5/5

Here's where they balked, on their customer service where I give 1/5 stars.

It is kind of false advertising, you don't send your system to Square Trade for repairs.

Getting it fixed the second time was a huge pain as it took multiple phone calls and a representative had to fix another's problem.

All in all, I gave them 6/10 (3/5 for non math geniuses) for this warranty, I would probably buy it again because gaming systems break too much.

5MUCH better service than Manufacturers Warranties!  Aug 13, 2010
By Thomas M Ashworth
Absolutely a no brainer here. My HP Printer died on day 364 of the 1 year HP Manufacturer warranty. I fought w/HP throughout process, and they stated that my Warranty had expired 75 days prior--impossible, as I had the Amazon receipt to prove it. Tech could not fix it, and said it would be 7-14 days before someone could get back to me to inquire/fix the warranty issue. Of course, it would have been at least another week once I got the repair set up and complete. I called SquareTrade, who held an extended Warranty on the priner, and in less than 5 minutes, the rep told me he would make the claim and approve it once he got my receipt. I sent the receipt, received an affadavit to sign, and 3 days later...a new Amazon Gift Card Plus 5%. 5 days later I am still waiting for HP to call me, and I'll have my new printer next week--and purchased another SqT warranty!!!
