5Square Trade Warranty on Playstation 3  Jun 05, 2009
By Jason Dalton
I purchased a used PS3 off Ebay back in September of 2008. I had bought a SquareTrade Warranty before and didn't need to use it. I decided that I would want a warranty on the PS3. Last week my PS3 started freezing up while watching a Blu Ray movie. The problem worsened and the PS3 would not recognize any media, game or movie. I went online and filed a claim with SquareTrade. They approved my claim and shipped me a box with pre-paid shipping to send my PS3 to their repair center. The repair center received my PS3 on 05/29. They made the repair and shipped my PS3 back to me, I received it on 06/03. All is working correctly now. This was one of the easiest warranty repairs I have ever experienced. I would highly recommend a SquareTrade Warranty to anyone.

1Really crummy company  Apr 28, 2010
By Eric William
Failed to honor my warranty. I filled out all the paperwork correctly. Documented everything and sent it in on time. I also received proof (from SquareTrade) that they received the documents - and all was complete. Yet ... they did nothing.

I have used other warranty services with success. I know it is a pain to document stuff, but I accept that this is how it works. However, other companies honor their warranties.

No one likes to have stuff go bad, but when it does, a warranty is supposed to cover the item. I may buy an extended warranty again - but not from SquareTrade.

5Purchased warranty for DVD system  Dec 10, 2009
By Suzanne Parks
I purchased a square trade warranty on Ebay for a dual headrest DVD system I bought. One of the monitors quit working after seven months and I filed a claim with Square Trade. They immediately provided me (via e-mail) a prepaid UPS shipping label. I boxed it up, and dropped it with UPS. Sqare Trade kept in constant e-mail contact through the whole process, notifying me that the item was enroute to them, when it arrived, that they were inspecting it, and finally that my warranty would be paid. My money was refunded instantly through paypal. I don't think I'll be buying anything else without one of these warranty's.

2So Far, Not So Good  Sep 16, 2010

SquareTrade 3-Year Electronics Warranty ($400-450 Items)
Well I purchased this warranty for advertised ease of use/claim and in-home service. I required these attributes since I live in a relatively rural area. The claim was easy enough on-line but once I finally got everything entered as required, it referred me to the manufacturer's warranty. So, 1 of my 3 years falls under the manufacturer, which requires me to send it to them AT MY OWN COST. This is obviously NOT what I was looking for or led to purchase.

5SquareTrade had great service and warranty claim response time!  Nov 24, 2009
By MGraham "mgraham"
We purchased a new dual monitor DVD player kit for $180 for our van in August 2008 and a 3 year Square Trade warranty less than a month later for $18.00. The kids loved the monitors and initially we used them only on long trips. After a while we just kept them installed on the back of the driver and front passenger seats so the kids could watch them on short trips too. Unfortunately, the DVD player begin to malfunction frequently by stopping the video and stating "Open" then "Loading" on both screens. Sometimes the DVD would reload to the place the movie left off and sometimes it wouldn't even start until the DVD was turned off and back on again. Needless to say this was extremely frustrating. To make a long story short ... we had never made a claim before but it occured to me that we had purchased the Square Trade warranty so we decided to give it a try. It took one single phone call to their customer support department and a few minutes later I had a return label to print out and send the item in for their inspection. I sent out the DVD player within a day or two and a few days later got a notice that the item was approved was a full warranty refund. Within a day or two after that I had the full $180 in my PayPal account. From start to finish the process took about 14 days including shipping time and weekends! The warranty cost exactly 10% of the refund price and we now have the full $180 to go out and buy another dual monitor DVD player for our van. Obviously, we are very pleased with the warranty we purchased and would highly recommend Square Trade for anyone purchasing any kind of electronic item that has the potential of breaking in the first 2 or 3 years. By the way, I don't work for Square Trade and have never even wrote a review of any item we've ever purchased before. It was just worth the time to write this review so others would know their warranty process really works and is very painless!
